Transcriptions:
Transcriptions are the process of transcribing a work of primarily non-art music origins and
its reappropriation into a score for free instrumentation. The composition style allows for
performance parameters to be decided upon at time of performance.
Recent work involves the publication of Transcription scores on Twitter and Instagram. As
Transcriptions explore the nature of authorship, publishing these fragments through social
media furthers this obstruction of ownership.
A decision was made to include other work demonstrating the aesthetics of the
Transcriptions project in this volume. These inclusions illuminate compositional techniques
employed and aim to heighten your experience with the musical scores.
